Why do think…?

Holtgrave, Maulsby, Wehrmeyer, and Hall (2012) revealed that once HIV statuses are established, 97% of infected people no longer transmit the virus.  However, 3% of those people still choose to practice unsafe behavior and continue to spread the infection even after becoming aware of their HIV seropositive status.  Why do you think people’s behaviors do not change after knowing their HIV positive status and what would be an effective health promotion approach to successfully trigger a behavior change in those people?
